Chris Britton
Mr. Britton formed PowerGrid Communications in March 2006 to bring integrated utility applications, advanced Wireless-Zigbee-GPRS and BPL Network technology, renewable energy and efficiency expertise and retail broadband services together into a single operating company, to meet the needs of the emerging Smart Grid industry. As IDACOMM's President and CEO, Chris was on the forefront of the Smart Grid industry, where he developed extensive technical and operating expertise and worked with some of the world's best equipment companies and Utility's to create full service Intelligent grids. Britton has assembled some of the industries most experienced technical and operating executives and growing PowerGrid Communications as one of the top Global Smart Grid Utility Operating Companies.
Prior to IDACOMM, Britton served as president and CEO of North American operations for VDSL Systems, Inc. A European-based IPTV video and data Technology Company focused on developing video streaming networks for telecommunications companies throughout North America, Europe and Asia. As the SVP for Marketing and Sales for High Speed Access Corporation, Chris' team launched over a 100 cable modem ISP markets for companies like Charter Communications. Britton was part of the senior team that raised over $415M in capital with companies like Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures; IPO'd the firm and helped HSAC get acquired by their largest shareholder, Charter Communications. Chris is a member of the board of directors for the United Powerline Council.
Chris has been a national speaker on BPL Network Operations and Integrated Business Models for the United Telecom Council, United Powerline Council, Western Energy Institute and for the Edison Electric Institute as well as the Continuing Learning Education credits series.
